CEMtobent DS is a sodium bentonite waterproofing membrane, specially designed for use on vertical and horizontal applications on below-ground reinforced concrete structures. The membrane consists of two geocomposite clay liners, a polyethylene 3D honeycomb liner which encapsulates the sodium bentonite powder, and a rain protection fleece; all are mechanically stitched together to form a strong composite.Penetrating water causes the sodium bentonite to hydrate and swell, producing an impermeable membrane which is self-healing, and is capable of sealing any small cracks in the concrete.Suitable for waterproofing of all basement grades according to BS 8102:2009. The overlaps should be detailed using Cemtobent-Paste or Cemtobent-Powder.Features and benefits:Tough and resistant.Seals small cracks in the concrete.Demonstrates self-healing properties.Higher puncture and tear resistance compared to conventional foils and coating.Quick and easy to install without complicated welding equipment.High compound shear strength. The reinforcement fibre structure and thermally bonded cover layer form a tight composite. Can be installed in every season, independently of temperature and weather conditions.Quality control tested to ensure consistently high quality.May be installed pre-form or post-form.Available in 12 m² (1.2 x 10 m) and 54 m² (1.8 x 30 m) rolls.CE marked.Product’s performance independently tested by Brendebach Ingenieure GmbH (Structural Engineers).Technical characteristics:Thickness to DIN EN 964-1 ≥8 mm.Maximum tensile strength (md/cmd) to DIN EN ISO 10319; ASTM-D-4595: 30/25 kN/m.K-value to DIN EN ISO 18130; ASTM-D-5887: 2x10-13 m/s.- Mass per unit area to DIN EN 965:Total: ≈ 5400 g/m².Non-woven extra light (PP white, filled with bentonite): 60 g/m².Honeycomb (PE-3-D composite, filled with bentonite): 70 g/m².Bentonite layer (sodium bentonite powder): 5000 g/m².Carrier woven (PP-slit film woven, beige): 120 g/m².Top layer woven (PE-slit film woven, beige): 100 g/m².- Sodium bentonite properties:Montmorillonite content (XRD): ≥70%.Water absorption to DIN 18132 (24 hours): ≥500%.Methylene blue consumption (Methylene blue test, VDG P 69): ≥200 Mg/g.Swell index (ASTM-D-5890): ≥20 ml/2g.Water content DIN 18121 (5 hours, 105°C): ≤15%.Fluid loss ASTM-D-5891: <20 ml.
